Group Programs
Our group programs at Inner Light Allied Health are all about connection, learning, and fun, and run in a way that’s neuroaffirming, sensory-friendly, and flexible to different needs. We run a variety of groups across the year, so there’s always something new to look out for (keep an eye on your emails and our socials for updates!). Groups are open to both NDIS participants and private clients, and are led by our psychologists, often with a little help from our therapy dogs. We love working together with other allied health professionals and educators to create programs that are engaging and meaningful.
Each group has its own flavour: our Dungeons & Dragons group brings kids together for social connection, communication, problem-solving, regulation skills, and plenty of fun; while our High School Transition group supports Grade 6 students to feel more confident (and less nervous!) about starting Year 7. Some groups run as one-off workshops, others happen over the school holidays, and some are ongoing.
No matter the format, we design them to be supportive, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Dungeons & Dragons
Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy role-play game that fosters creativity, self-regulation, and team work. D&D provides a safe space for individuals to develop meaningful connections with others, understand different communication styles, develop assertiveness communication, and learn to compromise/negotiate. The game’s mechanics and narratives support players to understand consequences of actions in a supportive environment.
The game is run by the Dungeon Master (support worker) and overseen by a psychologist to support participants in their social and emotional development
High School Readiness
Is your Grade 6 student feeling a little nervous about starting high school? Our High School Readiness Group is a supportive, neuroaffirming space designed to make the transition to Year 7 feel less overwhelming and more exciting. Led by an experienced psychologist and supported by our allied health team (and often our therapy dogs!). The group explores common questions and concerns young people have about moving into high school, like managing anxiety, navigating new routines and expectations, handling social changes, adjusting to different classrooms and schedules, and keeping on top of schoolwork.
We create a safe, encouraging environment where kids can build confidence, feel prepared, and know they’re not alone in the journey ahead.
